We are looking for a permanent Full-Time receptionist to work in our busy reception. Hours to include evenings and weekends.

The job will suit bright and lively people who want to work in a healthy, uplifting, buzzing and social environment. Being a climber is not essential but an interest in an active lifestyle would be an advantage.

Craggy2 is open despite the roadworks

September 7th, 2010 by Gareth | No Comments | Filed in Craggy Island News

Hi all,

Just to let you know that we are open for climbing as normal here at Craggy2. Woodmansterne Road (the road to the centre) is being resurfaced over the course of today and the following two days. We are assured by the council that we will have access at all times.

Currently (07.09.2010) there is a diversion in place if you are approaching from the Southerly direction but access from the North is fine. The diversion will be removed by 16:00 today.

I’ll update info on diversions etc as I get it – but we are definately open!

Craggy2 Autumn Boulder League 2010 Round 1

September 1st, 2010 by Gareth | No Comments | Filed in Craggy Island News
It’s getting darker earlier in the evenings… it must be about time to start the Craggy2 Autumn Bouldering League 2010!

So here it is the first round of our Autumn League will run on Thursday 16th of September in the Competition Room, with round two on Thursday 7th of October in the Rock Room. The League will consist of 4 rounds with the remaining two dates to be confirmed asap.

Each round will run with three categories; Easy, Medium and Hard. We’re adding a new kids category this year for our climbers aged 8 – 14.

The format for each round is as follows:
Start time: 18:30
End time: 21:30
Entry: £1.50 for a scorecard + normal admission cost
Scoring: Usual comp rules, 10 points for a flashed route, 7 points for completion on second attempt, 4 points for the third and any subsequent successful attempt will gain you one point (but only once).
Routes: Each category will have 15 routes to complete.
Categories: You can choose which category you compete in but if you scored really well in a category in previous Craggy2 Boulder Leagues we reserve the right to bump you up into the next one!

There are no huge cash prizes, no massive sponsorship, it’s a fun comp for everyone to have a go at and aim for the ultimate accolade of Craggy2 2010 Boulder League champion. We gaurantee a lovely atmosphere, the chance to watch us staff falling off stuff (in a controlled manner), new routes to play on, a really enjoyable evening for all and maybe even a superbly crafted trophy at the end of it!

Right time to get some serious training in :0)

Guildford Setting Week

August 31st, 2010 by Ben Read | No Comments | Filed in Craggy Island News

Mark is back in setting all of this week here at Guildford.

He has already done the traverse wall, which now features some very interesting volumes and even more interesting routes!

The rest of the setting for this week is as follows:

Today: Lines 21 – 24

Wednesday: Lines 25 – 28

Thursday and Friday: The Ice Box (29 – 37)

This does mean that these areas will be out of action while setting is taking place, but as normal we will aim to get everything back open by about 6pm each day.

Enjoy!
