Craggy Island is looking forward to welcoming all competitors and their supporters to the BMC’s Youth climbing series being held at our Guildford centre this Saturday. We have been working hard all week to create some challenging and interesting routes to test these young climbers, set by our very own Mark Croxall. As our members will be aware, Mark is a former world bouldering champion and puts up the majority of routes and boulder problems at both Craggy’s. He has carefully set each route to be both challenging and fun at each grade level. So be prepared for some adventure!
It’s not all serious competition climbing though and there is a strong emphasis on fun through out the day, which all adds to a great atmosphere.
For those not competing, the competition will be starting from 10am and will be running throughout the day, which will mean there is restricted climbing in some areas of the centre. The areas not in use for the competition (Learning zone, Ice Box, Slabs, Profile Tower, etc.) will still be available for use during the day and taking into consideration the closures we would like to offer a reduced entry price of £4 for members still wishing to come in and climb.
We expect the centre to be open as normal from 6pm and normal entry prices will apply from that time.
I and the “Craggy Crew” would like to wish all the competitors the best of luck and most importantly hope they have a great day here at Craggy Island.
