Hi all,

A heads up if you are coming to Craggy2 over the next few weeks and will be arriving by car from a Southerly direction.

The section of the A2022 from slightly East of the junction with the A217 and the roundabouts at the Southern end of Woodmansterne Road will have roadworks commencing from Monday 19th March 2012 for a total of 9 weeks. The road will be open but subject to traffic light control as traffic will be restricted to a single carrigeway.

This may cause lengthy delays in both directions on the A2022 especially at peak traffic times so please look to take alternative routes – thankfully there a few!

Mark coaching at Bootcamp, Craggy2

Craggy2 Sutton is currently looking for freelance climbing  instructors to join our team. We are interested in anyone who has a passion for climbing and is keen to pass this on to our customers.

The role of an instructor is a vital and very important part of Craggy Island as they are normally the first person that the customer meets when they come climbing at the centre.

Freelance instructors teach a variety of courses from childrens Cave & Climb parties, to Intro Sessions or our regular Kids Club. We also do a lot of work with schools and youth groups. We are therefore looking for people who can communicate and instruct adults as well as childrens.

To become an instructor you will have to take part in our site specific training (SST) which is a 4 hour course that takes you through all of basics of teaching at our centre. Once you have taken the training you will then be required to complete a set amount of shadowing hours (this will depend on previous experience). Once completed you can then book in for an assessment.

Providing that you pass you will then be able to book yourself in for work at Craggy2 and teach our customers. The majority of the work is in the evening and at weekends although there is some work available during the daytime in the week. If you complete 10 hours of instructing at Craggy2 in a month you climb for free at both Craggy Islands the next month! 

You do not need to have had previous instructing experience to book onto the course but you will need to be a competent climber.

The next course that we are running is on Wednesday 18^th April 2012 from 17.30 – 21.30. The course costs £25.00 and to book you place please call the Craggy2 Reception team on 01483 540 887.

’twas another great set by our lovely setters and a fun night of Boulder Leagueing was had by all. The medium category is being hotly contested and it all looks very close at the top of the other two categories as well:

Not forgetting that there will be a La Sportiva demo on the night as well – can’t think of a better way to try out new shoes than on new problems!

A quick reminder that we are resetting the Rock Room here at Craggy2 on Monday 27th of February through to Thursday 1st of March 2012.

The Rock Room will be shut during the day for climbing whilst Mark and his merry men (+ Danie!) do their stuff, but we’ll endeavour to get it open again by 18:30 – 19:00 each day*

So that means the Thursday 1st March is Winter Boulder League Round 2 from 18:30 – see you there

After much debate over whether this should really be the Winter rounds of the Craggy2 Boulder League we’ve decided to post the results and probably not worry too much about whether it’s Winter or Spring!

So the first round results out of the four Winter/Spring rounds are:

Execellent stuff from all the competitors and interesting to see a tie at the top. Round 2 will be on Thursday 1st of March 2012. See you there for another fun night of competion!
