The Competition season is starting to swing into gear and Craggy2 already has some dates for your diary:

Craggy2 Autumn Boulder League Round 2 – Thursday 29th September
All are welcome to our friendly comp – even if you didn’t do Round 1! See the news section for further details (coming soon).

Tri-Services Bouldering League Round 1 – Wednesday 12th October
The league is open to serving regular and reserve personnel from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and RAF. The centre will be closed for public climbing from 12:00 – 16:30 on the day.

and finally THE BIG ONE….

Southern Indoor Bouldering League 2011/12 Round 1 – Sunday 16th October
Craggy2 can’t wait to kick off the new SIBL season in style! The centre will be closed for public climbing until 17:00 on the day but feel free to come down and spectate if you haven’t registered to compete. More details at www.sibl.co.uk

Stuck for something to do with the kids this half-term? Then why not book them onto one of our Junior Fun or Mini Fun sessions here at Craggy2 in Sutton?

It’s an hour of instructed Caving and Climbing fun for only £15.00 per person. We’ll kit them up, give them a full safety brief and then take them off your hands whilst you relax for an hour. They’ll have a chance to go caving in our indoor caving system and have a go at Bouldering on our fantastic range of climbing problems. What could be better?

We’ve recently changed our policy on under 8yr olds, and now cater for children as young as 5! Children aged between 5-7 can now take part in activities here at Craggy2, when booked onto our Mini Fun Sessions. To make things easier for you parents, these Mini Fun Sessions take place at 12.30, meaning you can book your wee ones onto a Mini Fun Session, whilst your older ones can be booked onto the Junior Fun Session at the same time! (Junior Fun Sessions suitable for children aged 8-14.)

We have a limited number of spaces available on our sessions which run every weekday of the holiday (Monday 30th May – Friday 3nd June) at 11:00, 12.30 and 14:00, (11.00 and 14.00 Junior Fun Sessions only). Call our delightful reception team on 0844 880 8866 now to book!

Hi all,

A big Craggy thank you to everyone that came last Thursday for the final round of our Winter League in the Rock Room. Well done to everyone who took part, the round winners and the league winners!

If you won the round or the league and you didn’t stay until the end please ask for Gareth to receive your prize. Special mention must be made of one of our regular juniors Olivia Hawksworth who came second in the easy category with some fantastic climbing. Because of her excellent performance we have decided to award an extra prize – Olivia seek out Gareth next time you are in for a climb :0)

We’re continuing with our monthly route setting schedule here at Craggy2 so the next dates for your diary are:

Rock Room 18th – 21st April 2011
Comp Room 23 – 27th May 2011

This means Mark and Co. will be setting the usual range of ladders to fierce problems to tax your climbing skills. As ever we aim to have the setting and testing completed by approximately 18:30 each day and the room back open for you to try the new routes.

With the new routes comes Boulder League (our fun climbing competition) so the next dates for you to work to are:

They are posted as events on the Craggy Island Facebook page so why not keep track of things there?

Craggy2 is looking forward to welcoming all competitors and their supporters to the final round of SIBL 2011 held on Satruday 19th March.  Mark Croxall our main route setter will be working hard in the run up to the competition to set  competition routes that will tax both beginners and pro’s alike.

The times for the day are as follows:

Registration: 10.00 – 12.00
Junior Comp start: 11:00
Open Comp start: 12.00
Junior finish: 16:00
Adult finish: 17:00
Head to Head: 17:15
Prizes/end: 17:45

 The sponsors for this round are Lyon who have lined up some great prizes for the winners.
As an added bonus Rock On are sponsoring a prize draw traverse route (set by Dom). If you can complete the traverse you’ll be in with a chance of a prize! 

With registration starting at 10:00 and the event running throughout the day, the whole of Craggy2 will be closed to public climbing until 18:00. We expect the centre to be open as normal from 18:00 for the last hour of the day and you’ll be able to climb for a reduced rate of £5.00.
